The Journey to SAA-C03: Behind the Scenes of Becoming an AWS Solutions Architect

It’s official—I’m a Certified Solutions Architect. Looking back at the last few months, the badge at the end is definitely cool, but it’s the actual grind of getting here that sticks with me.
💡 Phase 1: Realizing I Needed to Pivot
When I first started out, I wasn’t even planning on aiming for the Associate level. I thought getting the Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) would be good enough. I quickly realized how wrong I was and that I needed to go deeper if I wanted to build real production systems.
So, I made a tactical move: I took a step back, completed the CLF-C02 course first, and then jumped into the SAA-C03. Honestly, that single decision eased the journey so much. Knowing the core services beforehand meant the advanced architectural patterns felt more like a heavy revision instead of a completely foreign language.
🧠 Phase 2: Facing the SAA-C03 Pressure
Even with that foundation, the SAA-C03 was anything but easy. The sheer balance of theoretical knowledge and critical thinking required put my mind under constant pressure. To survive the brutal, scenario-based questions, I had to rely heavily on specific tools:
- Exam Prepper: Essential for simulating the relentless exam environment and getting used to the question pacing.
- Tekbay’s Resources: My go-to for breaking down complex architectural concepts and bridging the gaps between theory and practice.
Architecture diagrams and practice tests basically became my entire personality for a while, and there were plenty of late nights where my brain felt fried trying to figure out why one multi-tier decoupled configuration was better than another.
🤝 Phase 3: The Crew in My Corner
But the biggest thing I learned along the way is that you can’t survive a grueling certification journey alone. You need a solid crew in your corner.
- Tekbay & Rojan Sedhai: I owe you both a massive shoutout. Your technical guidance and mentorship kept me from hitting dead ends. You didn't just teach me how to pass a test; you pushed me to understand how things actually run in production.
- Merina Didi: My absolute emotional anchor. When the study burnout got heavy and the stress kicked in, you kept me grounded and sane when I just wanted to close the laptop.
Key Takeaway: Passing this exam wasn't just a win for my resume; it was a massive lesson in consistency, troubleshooting, and resilience.
🎯 What's Next?
Now that the theoretical grind is over, I’m just excited to take everything I learned during this journey and start applying it directly to building and automating real-world systems in the DevOps and Cloud space.
The test is checked off, but the actual building starts now.
